Job summary

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the Process Safety competency for the US Refineries and support policy development beyond the US. You will serve as the US Region SME and partner with Canadian counterparts to advance Cenovus Risk Methodology.

Key responsibilities include ownership of methodology development, training programs, and ensuring RMP and PHA standards are met.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
• Requires 16+ years in Process Safety or related discipline; 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety across US Refineries, owning methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
• Build and develop Process Safety Engineers trained in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
• Design, deliver, and maintain risk-training for site personnel with QA/QC of deliverables and new team members.
• Champion risk standards across the organization (PHA, RMP).
• Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
• Drive audits within the PSM space.
