Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the US Refinery Process Safety competency. You will be the US region's SME, shaping policy and guiding risk-based decisions for Cenovus operations.

You will build a team of Process Safety Engineers, oversee HAZOPs/LOPA, and ensure compliance with PHA and RMP standards while coordinating with Canadian counterparts. The role emphasizes leadership and safety excellence across the US network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering.
• 16+ years in a Process Safety role.
• Experience leading multiple HAZOPs and MOCs; LOPA analyses.
• Familiarity with API, NFPA, CCPS codes & US regs; RMP compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety across US Refineries; own methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
• Develop and train Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
• Design, deliver, and maintain a risk-training suite for site personnel; QA/QC site deliverables.
• Sustain key risk standards (PHA, RMP) across the organization.
