Job summary

Cenovus Energy in Worthington, OH is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the Process Safety competency across US Refineries and support policy alignment with Cenovus operations in Canada.

You will develop and deliver risk-based training, oversee HAZOP/LOPA/HAZID analyses, ensure PHA, RMP compliance, and drive audits and continuous improvement of safety standards across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 16+ years in Process Safety, with 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals preferred.
• Experience leading multiple complex unit HAZOPs and MOCs; conduct LOPA analyses.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety across US Refineries; own methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
• Develop engineers trained in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
• Design, deliver, and maintain comprehensive risk training; QA/QC site deliverables; mentor new engineers.
• Champion key risk standards (PHA, RMP compliance).
• Coordinate third-party studies (siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
• Drive and support PSM audits and continuous safety improvements.
