Job summary

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the Process Safety competency for the US Refineries and advise on policy beyond the US region. This role serves as the US Region SME and coordinates with Canadian counterparts in PSM expertise.

The candidate will mentor engineers, develop risk training, and drive key safety standards and audits across Cenovus sites. This is a senior, high-impact position based in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field.
• 15+ years in Process Safety or related discipline; oil & gas/petrochem assets experience preferred.
• Experience leading multiple HAZOPs/LOPA analyses and translating results into SIL requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety across US Refineries, including methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
• Develop and mentor Process Safety Engineers trained in Cenovus Risk Methodology.
• Design and maintain a risk-training suite for site personnel and QA/QC of deliverables.
• Safeguard key risk standards (PHA, RMP) across Cenovus units.
• Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis) and support PSM audits.
