Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to drive Process Safety across the US Refineries and to support policy development beyond the US. This role serves as the US Region's lead SME in Process Safety and coordinates with Canadian counterparts.

You will build and mentor a team of Process Safety Engineers, develop risk training, oversee HAZOP/LOPA/HAZID analyses, ensure RMP and PHA standards compliance, and drive PSM-related audits.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 16+ years in Process Safety; 10+ years in Oil & Gas/ Petrochemicals preferred.
• Experience leading multiple complex unit HAZOPs and MOCs with SIL translation.
• Experience in process safety information auditing or RAGAGEP verification.
• Familiarity with API, NFPA, CCPS codes & US regulations; RMP compliance preferred.
• Experience with Fire Hazard Analysis, QRA, barrier health concepts and PSM projects.

Responsabilidades

• Lead Process Safety as a competency across US Refineries—owning methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
• Develop competent Process Safety Engineers trained in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
• Design, deliver and maintain a risk-training suite for site personnel and QA/QC of deliverables.
• Champion and safeguard key risk standards across the organization (PHA, RMP).
• Coordinate centrally managed third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
• Drive and support assurance audits within the PSM space.
