Job summary

Eaton Corporation’s Power Systems Controls group seeks an experienced engineer to lead development, testing, and deployment of PLC/HMI software for power transfer applications (Main-Tie-Main, Main-Gen, Paralleling Switchgears). The role is hybrid, based near Chicago, with ~35% travel/intermittent on-site work.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in power distribution controls or a Master’s with 5+ years, and a PE license is preferred. A company vehicle and paid overtime are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with 7+ years of power distribution controls experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of power distribution controls experience.
• Current, unrestricted driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record; regular driver per Eaton policy.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, test, and deploy PLC/HMI software for Power Transfer applications (e.g., Main-Tie-Main, Main-Gen, Paralleling Switchgears).
• Follow customer and internal specifications for project implementation.
• Select components and create bill of materials.
• Provide sketches and direction to Electrical Designers for project drawings.
• Prepare SOO and test procedures for customer submittals.
• Assist with factory testing and field start-ups; troubleshoot systems.
