Amazon.com LLC - A03 is seeking an experienced Power & Hardware Design Engineer to serve as the technical authority for power systems and hardware within Amazon's global fulfillment network. You will drive standardization and innovation in power distribution for material handling, focusing on safety, reliability, and scalability.
The role requires deep expertise in 3-phase power design, arc flash analysis, NEC/NFPA compliance, and hardware development for complex systems, including
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with large scale mechanical and power systems.
- Experience solving problems with technology in energy/utilities industries.
- 4+ years of experience in power systems design and hardware development.
- Proficient in arc flash calculations per IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
- Travel up to 30% (US and international).
Responsibilities
- Design, engineer, and optimize 3-phase power systems and distribution for material handling.
- Specify MDBs, PDPs, substations with proper sizing and protection coordination.
- Develop single-line diagrams and panel schedules.
- Perform arc flash and fault current studies for safety and reliability.
- Develop and maintain arc flash labeling programs.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated designs.
- Lead design reviews and audits for code compliance.
