Job summary

Amazon in the United States is seeking an experienced Power & Hardware Design Engineer to lead power distribution standards for its material handling systems. You will design 3-phase power systems, specify MDBs and PDPs, and develop single-line diagrams and panel schedules to support facility power needs.

You will perform arc flash calculations, develop labeling programs, and collaborate with WWDE, Operations Engineering, and suppliers to drive safe, scalable solutions across global fulfillment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent is required.
• 4+ years in power systems design and hardware development for large-scale material handling.
• Experience with 3-phase power systems and power distribution.
• Proficiency in arc flash calculations per IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
• Strong AutoCAD Electrical experience and NEC/NFPA code knowledge.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% (US and international).

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and optimize 3-phase power systems for material handling operations.
• Develop MDBs, PDPs, and single-line diagrams with proper sizing and coordination.
• Perform arc flash studies and labeling; ensure compliance with standards.
• Create and review A/E drawing sets; coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Analyze utilities data and provide recommendations for power system upgrades.
• Lead hardware development including VFDs, sensors, and predictive maintenance hardware.
