Job summary
Amazon is seeking an experienced Power & Hardware Design Engineer to act as the technical authority for power systems and hardware within its global fulfillment network. You will drive standardization of distribution, controls, and safety-focused design for material handling equipment across multiple sites.
In this role you will develop engineering standards, perform arc flash analyses, design MDBs/PDPs, and mentor junior engineers while delivering scalable, reliable power solutions that support
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience in power systems design and hardware development.
- Experience with large-scale mechanical and power systems.
- Proficient in arc flash calculations and hazard analysis per IEEE 1584/NFPA 70E.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical (2010 or newer).
- Willingness to travel up to 30% (US and international).
Responsibilities
- Design, engineer, and optimize 3-phase power systems and distribution for material handling.
- Develop MDBs, PDPs, and substations with proper sizing and protection coordination.
- Create single-line diagrams and panel schedules to support power needs.
- Perform power quality analysis and coordination studies for reliability and safety.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders for scalable system design.
- Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers in electrical design practices.
