Job summary

Volkert, Inc. seeks an Engineer/Construction Manager to support our Gulf Coast portfolio from Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana offices.

The role requires regional travel and potential remote work, coordinating with rail operators, contractors, and clients throughout design to post-construction. The position calls for a broad design/construction background with 10+ years of relevant experience on large port/rail projects, and a strong emphasis on project planning, risk mitigation, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Port Engineering/Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years design and construction project management experience on large-scale port/maritime projects.
• Experience with client/stakeholder coordination and design/construction delivery workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead design engineer for port and maritime projects from concept through design and bid packages.
• Manage and deliver construction of port and maritime projects across Gulf Coast region.
• Act as Owner’s Representative in communications with design firms, contractors, and clients.
• Develop Project Execution Plan (PEP) and staffing requirements; conduct kickoff meetings.
• Ensure quality control reviews, monitor field activities, and manage project close-out.
