Job summary

Volkert, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer/Construction Manager to support Maritime and Port services in the Gulf Coast Region.

The role will require work across Gulf Coast offices in Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana with regional travel and possible remote work as needed. You will provide technical design, project management, and construction oversight for port projects, coordinating with clients, subconsultants, and contractors from pre-design through post-construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Civil or Port Engineering Construction Management/Architecture/Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of relevant design and construction project management experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Experience with port/maritime projects and rail coordination is a plus.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead design engineer for port and maritime projects from concept through design and bid package preparation.
• Manage and deliver construction of port and maritime projects.
• Act as Owner’s Representative in communications with design firms, contractors, and clients.
• Develop a Project Execution Plan (PEP) with team, schedule, and staffing requirements.
• Conduct project kick-off meetings and ensure Quality Control reviews.
• Maintain daily field coordination with rail operators and rail safety compliance.
• Track progress, prepare monthly reports, and manage close-out documentation.
