Job summary

Volkert, Inc. seeks a Senior Engineer/Construction Manager to lead port and maritime projects in the Gulf Coast region. The role supports our Gulf Coast offices in Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana with regional travel and occasional remote work.

You will manage design and construction, serve as Owner’s Representative, develop execution plans, coordinate with clients and subconsultants, and ensure quality and safety across all project phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Port Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of design and construction project management experience on port/maritime projects.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred/required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design engineer for port/maritime projects from concept through design and bid package.
• Manage and deliver construction of port/maritime projects.
• Act as the Client's representative with design firms, subconsultants, and contractors.
• Prepare a Project Execution Plan with team, schedule, and staffing needs.
• Conduct kickoff meetings and ensure quality control throughout.
• Maintain daily field contact and coordinate with rail operators and safety protocols.
• Monitor progress, prepare monthly reviews and progress reports.
• Develop and enforce project budgets, schedules, and contract terms.
• Maintain project documentation and RFIs/ASIs/submittals.
