Job summary

IPS is seeking a Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at our Blue Bell, PA headquarters or regional offices. The role involves independent project work, or serving as a technical expert across multiple concurrent projects, with opportunities to lead design across all phases.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years in engineering/design for building systems, a BS in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering, and strong CAD/engineering calculation experience.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years Engineering/design experience in the building design industry.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited four-year College or University.
• Expertise in AutoCAD/Revit for engineering design.
• Thorough knowledge of Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fire Protection system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with software for performing plumbing and fire protection calculations.
• 2-4 years of experience overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.

Responsibilities

• Acts as Project Lead on all phases of work, including Feasibility Reports, Building Assessments, and Detailed Design.
• Breaks projects into tasks with Project Manager to determine scope, budget, and staffing.
• Prepares scope of work for design based on client meetings.
• Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new systems.
• Reviews and evaluates operation of existing systems.
• Coordinates with clients and other design professionals for scope changes.
• Mentors Designers and Engineers early in their careers.
• Reviews plumbing and fire protection drawings and calculations.
• Prepares or reviews construction budgets and supports standards development.
