Job summary

IPS-Integrated Project Services is seeking a Lead Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer for our eastern U.S. offices (MA, PA, NJ, MD, or NC). You will lead design on complex facilities, manage a project team, and deliver results through all design phases.

You will mentor junior designers, coordinate with clients and other trades, perform calculations, and ensure code compliance. The role requires strong technical leadership and the ability to travel as needed (5-20%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited four-year College or University.
• 10-12 years of Engineering/design experience in the building design industry.
• Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit).
• Experience with software for performing plumbing and fire protection engineering calculations (HASS/Viking/Pipe Flow/IPS Calculation Spread Sheets, etc.).
• 4 years of experience overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.

Responsibilities

• Performs the role of Project Lead on projects for all phases of work, including Feasibility Reports, Building Assessments, Concept and Basis of Design Reports, and Detailed Design and Documentation.
• Mentors, supports, and guides Designers and Engineers who are early in their careers with project execution.
• Assesses the requirements of a project, breaks a project into tasks, and works with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing.
• Write the scope of work for design, based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
• Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new systems.
• Prepares reports, specifications, plans, and supports construction for projects.
• Reviews and evaluates the operation of existing systems.
• Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within the company and externally with clients, as well as other design professionals.
