Job summary

IPS is seeking a Lead Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer for our eastern U.S. offices (MA, PA, NJ, MD, or NC). You will lead design efforts, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with project managers to deliver advanced life sciences facilities.

Requirements include 10–12 years of engineering/design experience, expertise in plumbing and fire protection systems, and AutoCAD/Revit proficiency. Travel to client sites and construction oversight are expected.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years of engineering/design experience in building design.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Expertise in AutoCAD/Revit for engineering design.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical or fire protection system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with plumbing and fire protection calculations software.

Responsibilities

• Leads projects as Project Lead across all phases, including feasibility reports, design and documentation.
• Mentors junior designers and engineers on project execution.
• Defines scope, budget, and staffing with the Project Manager.
• Prepares design studies, schematics, reports, specs, and construction support.
• Coordinates plumbing and fire protection designs with other trades and clients.
