Job summary

IPS is seeking a Lead Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer for our eastern U.S. offices (MA, PA, NJ, MD, or NC). You will lead design efforts on multiple projects, mentor junior staff, and coordinate scope, budget, and staffing with the Project Manager.

Requires 10–12 years in building systems engineering, expertise in AutoCAD/Revit, and strong piping and fire protection design experience. Travel 5–20% is expected; PE preferred.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years in engineering/design for building facilities.
• Experience with plumbing drainage and utility systems sizing.
• Fire protection: suppression systems, fire pump sizing.
• PE preferred; BS in ME or Fire Protection.
• Experience overseeing project teams (4 yrs).

Responsibilities

• Lead project design teams across all phases.
• Prepare scopes of work and design documents.
• Coordinate with client and PM on scope, budget, and staffing.
• Develop and review P&IDs, layouts, and calculations.
• Mentor junior designers and engineers.
