Job summary

IPS, a Berkshire Hathaway company, seeks a Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to lead design efforts at our Blue Bell, PA headquarters or in our Cherry Hill, NJ; Somerset, NJ; or Germantown, MD offices. You will oversee design teams, prepare reports and calculations, and coordinate with clients and code officials.

Requires 8–10 years in building design, a BS in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit with plumbing and fire protection knowledge.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years engineering/design experience in the building design industry.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Expertise in AutoCAD/Revit.
• Thorough knowledge of Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fire Protection system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with software for performing plumbing and fire protection engineering calculations (HASS / Viking / Pipe Flow / IPS Calculation Spread Sheets).
• Experience with different piping materials and pressures for all types of systems.
• 2-4 years of experience overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects across all phases, from feasibility through detailed design and documentation.
• Define scope, budget, and staffing with the Project Manager.
• Prepare scope of work and engineering studies for new systems.
• Review and evaluate operation of existing systems.
• Coordinate with clients, code officials, and other design professionals.
