Job summary

IPS is seeking a Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at Blue Bell, PA, or nearby offices. You will lead projects through feasibility, concept, basis of design, and detailed design stages, ensuring code compliance and coordinating with clients and other trades.

You will mentor junior designers, prepare reports and drawings, and oversee piping and fire protection layouts and calculations using AutoCAD/Revit and specialized software.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years engineering/design experience in the building design industry (e.g. plumbing: drainage systems, utility systems, drainage/utility pump systems, sizing drainage/utility systems, water heaters).
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Expertise in AutoCAD and Revit for engineering design.
• Thorough knowledge of Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fire Protection system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with software for performing plumbing and fire protection engineering calculations (HASS / Viking / Pipe Flow / IPS Calculation Spreadsheets).
• 2–4 years of experience overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.

Responsibilities

• Acts as Project Lead on projects across all design phases, including feasibility, concept, Basis of Design, and detailed design.
• Assesses project requirements, breaks work into tasks, and defines scope, budget, and staffing with PM.
• Writes scope of work for design after client meetings.
• Prepares engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems.
• Reviews operation of existing systems and coordinates with code officials.
• Prepares reports, specifications, plans, and supports construction.
• Mentors designers and engineers; coordinates document completion with clients.
