Job summary

IPS is seeking a Lead Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer to join our team across eastern U.S. offices. You will lead projects, oversee design teams, and guide engineers on feasibility studies, basis of design, and detailed design.

You will coordinate with clients, prepare reports and drawings, and ensure compliance with codes. A PE is preferred; 10–12 years of building design experience and proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit are essential. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years engineering/design experience in building design.
• Experience in plumbing and fire protection systems design and sizing.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with piping materials and codes.
• 4 years overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as Project Lead across all phases: feasibility, assessments, basis of design, and detailed design.
• Mentor Designers and Engineers on project execution.
• Define scope, budget, and staffing with the Project Manager.
• Prepare design studies, schematics, reports, and construction support.
• Review calculations and drawings; coordinate with clients and other trades.
• Oversee design team assignments and ensure timely markups.
• Support in budgets and promote company design standards.
