Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior Piping Engineer to lead analysis and provide technical direction on piping systems in accordance with ASME codes. The role requires extensive experience, system design review, and coordination across disciplines in a hybrid schedule with in-office work a few days per week.

You will review complex calculations, approve designs, prepare specifications, and support client engagements while ensuring quality, safety, and project performance.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME BPV Section III piping codes.
• Knowledge of design, selection, and application of pipe supporting elements.
• Working knowledge of piping products and their application.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complex calculations and approves simple calculations; provides technical guidance to the project team.
• Reviews and approves simple system/structural designs and prepares/reviews complex designs for completeness and operability.
• Performs engineering review of drawings and coordinates interface between design and engineering.
• Prepares and reviews major system, installation, and material specifications; defines technical and commercial requirements.
• Prepares bid evaluations for complex systems; participates in bid negotiations with vendors; evaluates change orders.
• Prepares and reviews single-discipline and multi-discipline reports; ensures conclusions are technically sound and cost-effective.
