Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Peachtree Corners, GA is seeking a senior Piping Engineer to provide technical direction on major projects within our Nuclear Power Group. This hybrid position requires in-office work 3 days per week with flexible scheduling to meet project needs.

The role leads project teams, reviews complex calculations and designs, and ensures compliance with ASME B31.1/B31.7 and other codes. ABET-accredited degree and 10+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering, ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.
• Knowledge of pipe supporting elements design and application.
• Familiarity with piping products and their applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers provide senior technical direction and supervise project teams.
• Review complex calculations and approve simpler ones; ensure technical soundness.
• Review and approve system/structural designs for completeness and operability.
• Perform engineering review of drawings and define client expectations.
• Prepare and review major system, installation, and material specifications.
• Prepare bid evaluations and participate in vendor negotiations.
• Contribute to multi-discipline reports and ensure clear communication.
