Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Piping Engineer to lead engineering and analysis for piping systems in nuclear and fossil environments. The role emphasizes ASME B31.1/Section III, pipe supports, and hydrodynamic considerations, with client-facing leadership across project teams.

The successful candidate will oversee calculations, system designs, drawings review, and vendor submittals while guiding junior engineers. Hybrid work requires three in-office days per week in the United States.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in solid mechanics, structural analysis, elasticity, metallurgy.
• P.E. license required to practice engineering in the U.S.
• 20+ years of relevant mechanical/structural piping engineering experience in the energy sector.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.1 and BPV Section III piping codes and pipe supporting design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client liaison and team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical direction and supervision to project teams.
• Establish project task schedules and budgets to meet requirements.
• Coordinate activities between disciplines and serve as client liaison.
• Review complex calculations and approve designs with quality and constructability in mind.
• Prepare and review major system, installation, and material specifications and vendor submittals.
• Participate in bid evaluations and change-order reviews.
