Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor within Payroll Tax Operations (PTO) to lead complex payroll tax defect resolution across Notices, Corrections, and Amendments. You will own the most challenging cases, mentor junior staff, and drive process improvements while maintaining accuracy and service quality.

The role emphasizes diagnosing state and federal payroll tax issues, preparing amended returns (Form 941-X, W-2c), and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with a focus on tax defect resolution for notice responses, amended returns, and payroll error correction across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types; ability to independently draft penalty abatement requests and agency response letters.
• Hands-on experience preparing and approving amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across multiple states.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law and multi-state tax compliance across jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, owning full case lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods or jurisdictions; trace discrepancies and drive corrections.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Correction, Amendment, and Notice requests with high accuracy.
• Coach Senior Payroll Tax Processors and share knowledge to build team capability.
