Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor for its Payroll Tax Operations, focusing on end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across notices, corrections, and amendments. The role leads complex cases, mentors peers, and drives process improvements while ensuring accuracy and compliance for multiple states.

As a remote hourly position, you’ll have flexibility, transact high-impact work, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-ready tax resolutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focusing on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Deep knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notices; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X) and State payroll tax returns across states with complex local rules.
• Knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW and payroll tax deposit schedules; strong Excel skills for reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex payroll tax notices across multiple quarters and states.
• Prepare and file amended returns end-to-end with reconciliations and SSA/W-2c work.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods and drive full correction workflows.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving correction, amendment, and notice requests.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases, and surface blockers with root-cause analysis.
• Coach and train Senior Payroll Tax Processors to build team capability.
• Contribute to SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring error patterns.
• Collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.
