Job summary

Intuit Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Payroll Tax Processor to serve as SME for end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across notices, amendments, and corrections. The role requires expert problem solving, process improvement, and a willingness to mentor others.

The position focuses on fixing payroll tax problems rather than running payroll, handling state and federal notices, amended returns (941-X, W-2c), and cross-state compliance. Flexible, remote work with overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices; ability to draft penalty abatements and agency responses.
• Hands-on experience filing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (941-X, W-2c) in multi-state contexts.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and local requirements.
• Strong writing skills for SOPs and KB articles.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex payroll tax notices across multiple states, owning the full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended returns (941-X, W-2c) with reconciliations and SSA checks.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors across pay periods and jurisdictions; drive corrective workflows.
• Coach and mentor team members; lead knowledge transfer and process improvements.
• Collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams to resolve issues end-to-end.
• Maintain high productivity and accuracy in case resolution and QA.
