Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Expert (SME) to resolve complex state and federal payroll tax notices, prepare amended returns across multiple states, and mentor the team on best practices.

This hourly, non-exempt role with SelectTime offers 20–40 hours weekly, overtime eligibility, and opportunities to drive process improvements, draft SOPs, and collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and corrections across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices and ability to draft penalty abatements and agency responses.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across states with complex local requirements.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and multi-state compliance.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex state and federal payroll tax notices across multiple states and quarters.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods; drive correction workflows to resolution.
• Coach and mentor team members; lead real-time support and share knowledge via Slack/Zoom.
• Contribute to SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring errors and propose improvements.
• Collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams to resolve end-to-end issues.
