Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Expert to lead end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across notices, corrections, and amendments. This SME role focuses on solving complex tax problems and mentoring junior staff while driving process improvements.

The position emphasizes not running payroll but fixing tax problems, cross-team collaboration, and knowledge transfer to build capability within the group. Flexible hours with potential for 20–40 hours per week are offered.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution and notice response across multiple states.
• Experience drafting penalty abatement requests and agency response letters with supporting docs.
• Hands-on experience with Form 941-X, W-2c, and amended returns across states including PA, OH.
• Deep knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW, and related penalties and interest.
• Lead/SME experience; coaching junior staff on complex resolutions.
• Proficiency in creating SOPs and KB articles for tax processes.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex state and federal payroll tax notices, owning the full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods and jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving corrections, amendments, and notices with high accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers, drive root-cause analysis for solutions.
• Serve as real-time resource to Senior Processors, coaching and training teammates.
