Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Expert to lead complex State and Federal payroll tax issues and act as a SME within the Payroll Tax Operations team. This role focuses on issue resolution rather than running payroll, with coaching responsibilities and SOP/knowledge-base development.

The position is hourly, non-exempt, offering potential overtime and a starting schedule of at least 20 hours per week, with possibility to grow to 40 hours based on demand.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in payroll tax, resolving tax defects and managing notice responses.
• Experience drafting responses and documentation for payroll tax notifications.
• Hands-on experience preparing and approving amended tax returns, especially in states with complex requirements.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across multiple states.
• Diagnose and correct payroll tax errors and trace discrepancies to their source for correction.
