Job summary

Intuit seeks a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to serve as a senior payroll tax expert and SME. You will own complex notices, amendments, and corrections across multiple states, acting as a technical lead and resource for peers.

The role emphasizes solving hard problems, building team capability, and improving processes for customers. You will file amended returns, reconcile taxes, and coach junior staff, while collaborating with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams to ensure

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focusing on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and payroll corrections across multiple states.
• Independent ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses with documentation.
• Experience preparing and approving amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across diverse jurisdictions.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and local tax compliance.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, ownership of full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods; trace to payroll run and drive corrections.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notices with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers, propose resolutions with root-cause analysis.
