Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor within Payroll Tax Operations to act as the primary technical expert for TP1–TP3, owning complex escalations and driving SOP governance. This remote, high-ownership role requires coaching junior staff, maintaining SOPs/KBs, and guiding workforce capacity planning while ensuring compliance across states.

You will resolve the most challenging notices, approve amended returns, and provide data-driven risk assessments in cross-functional settings.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with focus on complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as lead/senior SME coaching staff through complex resolutions.
• Deep knowledge of US tax payment and filing regulations across jurisdictions.
• Strong writing skills to author SOPs and technical docs for tax processors.
• Proven ownership of SLAs with proactive issue flags and resolutions.
• Bias for validated solutions and data-driven decision making.
• 5+ years handling high-sensitivity escalations in fast-paced environments.
• Experience in contact center or back-office operations handling high-volume needs.
• Comfort with testing AI tools to improve team workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3, guiding resolution paths.
• Own SOPs and KB articles across core operations with formal approvals.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and update performance boards.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports and advise staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices including IRS/state issues.
• Approve complex federal and state returns with audit trails.
• Identify systemic risks and communicate with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings, upholding compliance integrity.
