Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert for Payroll Tax Operations. You will act as the primary go-to resource for the team, own complex escalations, approve SOPs, and coach staff to build workforce capacity.

This virtual role offers flexible hours with a minimum of 20 hours per week and potential to 40 hours. It involves handling high-stakes tax notices and driving continuous process improvements across TP1–TP3, while aligning with compliance and SLA targets.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex defect resolution.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across states, including municipal programs.
• Advanced ability to author and review SOPs and technical documents.
• Strong ownership of SLAs and proactive resolution of workflow blockers.
• Experience handling high-sensitivity escalations with limited guidance.
• Experience in contact center or back-office operations for high-volume work.
• Comfort with using AI tools to improve team workflows.

Responsabilités

• Serve as the primary, real-time go-to technical expert for TP1, TP2, and TP3 staff, answering complex questions and teaching resolution paths to build team capability.
• Own the authoring, technical review, and formal approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions at least quarterly with assigned team members.
• Lead or contribute to team huddles, group QA sessions, and performance board updates.
• Maintain total mastery of the daily business landscape, provide oversight of WIP and aging reports.
• Resolve the most severe payroll tax notices in the queue across state and federal levels.
• Approve highly complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify systemic trends and risks, communicating findings with data-driven responses.
• Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and provide risk-informed alternatives.
