Job summary

POWERX in Tyler, TX is seeking a P&C Senior Test Engineer to independently execute protection testing, commissioning, and validation for substations up to 765kV. You will apply system-level knowledge of CT/VT theory, relay logic, and SCADA integration while mentoring junior engineers.

The role requires experience with relay testing platforms (Doble, Omicron, RTS) and familiarity with NEC/OSHA standards. Travel to project sites and coordination with Leads are expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of high-voltage protection and control testing.
• Experience with 12.5kV–765kV substations preferred.
• Familiarity with SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Westinghouse or equivalent relay platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Knowledge of NEC and OSHA Safe Work Practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute relay protection testing.
• Test and validate protection elements (line, transformer, bus, etc.).
• Interpret relay logic and event reports.
• Lead safety and documentation.
• Support outage coordination.
