Job summary

POWERX is seeking a P&C Senior Test Engineer to independently execute testing, commissioning, and validation across substations up to 765kV. This role applies system-level understanding of protection schemes and mentors junior staff.

Responsibilities include relay testing with advanced platforms, CT/VT verification, interpreting protection logic, and coordinating switching activities with Lead oversight. Safety and compliance are daily priorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years in high-voltage protection & control testing.
• Experience commissioning substations 12.5kV–765kV preferred.
• Experience with SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Westinghouse or equivalent relay platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology (or related field).
• OSHA 30 and NEC/OSHA knowledge preferred.
• Willingness to travel and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute relay protection testing using testing platforms such as Doble, Omicron, RTS, SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista, and equivalents.
• Test and validate protection elements including line, transformer, bus, feeder, and breaker schemes.
• Perform CT/PT testing including ratio, polarity, phasing, and grounding verification.
• Interpret relay logic, phasors, event reports, and oscillography to identify abnormal conditions.
• Support switching activities and outage coordination with Lead oversight.
