Job summary

POWERX is seeking a P&C Senior Test Engineer to independently execute protection testing and commissioning across substations up to 765kV. You’ll evaluate CT/VT theory, relay logic, and system interactions while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring compliance with utility standards.

You will lead test planning and documentation, contribute to commissioning procedures, and coordinate with Lead on risk and safety in field operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in high-voltage Protection & Control testing.
• Experience commissioning substations from 12.5kV through 765kV preferred.
• Experience with relay platforms such as SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Westinghouse or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in electrical technology/engineering.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Familiarity with NEC and OSHA safe work practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute relay protection testing across substations using specified test platforms.
• Test and validate protection elements (line, transformer, bus, feeder, breaker failure, reclosing, transfer trip).
• Perform CT/PT testing, ratio, polarity, and timing checks.
• Interpret relay logic, phasors, and event reports to identify anomalies and communicate findings to Lead.
• Develop complete test, isolation, energization, and commissioning procedures with risk analyses.
• Mentor engineers on protection testing techniques and documentation practices.
