Job summary

WSP is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician to support projects across Texas and Louisiana. You will perform high‑voltage testing and energization activities on substations, transformers, and related equipment, ensuring safety and data integrity in demanding environments.

The role requires strong knowledge of protective relays, testing standards, and field logistics, with the ability to work independently, mentor junior technicians, and travel

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor preferred for advancement.
• Minimum 7 years in electrical testing; HV circuit breakers, transformers, protection testing experience.
• Knowledge of transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes.
• Proficiency with relay calibration using Omicron/ Doble test sets and related tools.
• Experience with IEEE, NETA, NFPA standards in field testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on HV substations.
• Conduct on-site relay testing using Omicron or Doble test sets; test specified relays.
• Document site activities with field forms, digital tools, and mobile apps.
• Assist and mentor junior technicians; ensure safety and data integrity.
• Escalate complex issues to site lead; participate in daily safety briefings.
