Job summary

WSP USA seeks a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Lead P&C Field Services Technician for Texas and Louisiana. You will lead field operations, perform testing and commissioning of protection and control systems in high voltage substations, and coordinate with engineers and subcontractors to deliver safe, compliant field solutions.

The role emphasizes safety, routine documentation, and effective communication with project leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 11+ years of experience in electrical testing including HV equipment.
• Expertise on transmission, generation, or distribution relays and protective schemes.
• Advanced testing with Omicron Doble test sets and relay calibration.
• Knowledge of testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Ability to travel and work in field environments up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations for complex projects with technical guidance and oversight.
• Perform testing and commissioning of protection and control systems on high voltage substations.
• Mentor technicians and coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and project leadership.
• Document site activities using field forms and digital data tools.
• Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance on site.
• Lead field readiness planning, tool inspection, and weather contingency measures.
• Communicate progress, risks, and technical concerns to clients and project managers.
• Drive continuous improvement in field procedures and data quality.
