Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Engineer, Overhead Transmission Line Design in our Transmission Line Engineering Department. The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating civil/structural analyses and project completion for distribution lines and high voltage transmission lines.

The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience, and a BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.

Qualifications

• Broad understanding of engineering principles and practices across training, project scope, schedule, and budget.
• 5–10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience and civil engineering knowledge.
• ABET-accredited BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• PE license required or ability to obtain in California.
• Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Complete calculations, drawings, contracts, specs, and design standards for distribution and transmission lines.
• Perform civil/structural analyses for line layout and design up to 500kV.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables and coordinate design reviews.
• Develop drawing packages for bidding, construction, and submittals.
• Coordinate with field crews and project management to meet scope, budgets, and schedules.
• Support business development and pursuit activities.
