Job summary

Qualus seeks a Senior Engineer in Transmission Line Design to lead civil/structural analyses and project completion for distribution and transmission lines. The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating engineering deliverables through design and construction, with travel up to 15%.

The candidate will perform complex calculations, prepare drawings, specifications, and budgets while staying current on industry regulations, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience.
• ABET-accredited BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions at both strategic and functional levels.
• Work independently with minimal direction as a highly motivated self-starter.
• PE required or the ability to obtain PE in California.
• Willing and able to travel up to 15% and possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Complete calculations, construction drawings, contracts, technical specifications, design standards for distribution/transmission lines.
• Perform civil/structural engineering analyses and design for line layout through 500kV.
• Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables and conduct design review meetings.
• Create and support construction contracts, material take-offs, and technical specifications.
• Coordinate drawing packages for bidding, construction, as-built, and submittal purposes.
• Develop training modules and assist in budget preparation for projects.
• Provide guidance to project teams and interact with field crews and management.
