Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Engineer, Overhead Transmission Line Design in the Transmission Line Engineering Department. The role plans, directs and coordinates civil/structural analyses and designs for distribution and transmission lines, delivering comprehensive drawings, specs, and construction packages.

The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years in overhead transmission line design, a BS in an ABET-accredited engineering field, and PE licensure or the ability to obtain it in California.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience.
• BS in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• PE license or ability to obtain PE in California.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing and able to travel up to 15% with a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Complete calculations, drawings, contracts, specs for distribution/transmission lines.
• Perform civil/structural analyses and design through 500kV.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate design review meetings for projects.
• Create and support construction contracts, material take-offs, specs.
• Develop drawing packages for bidding, construction, as-built, submittals.
• Provide technical direction and assist in project management.
