Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Engineer in its Transmission Line Engineering Department to lead overhead transmission line design projects, planning, directing civil/structural analyses, and ensuring on-time completion of distribution and high-voltage lines.

The role may be based in Salt Lake City, UT, Reno, NV, or remote within the U.S., with up to 15% travel. You will coordinate with field crews, prepare drawings/specifications, manage budgets, and ensure adherence to NERC/NESC standards.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience.
• BS in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program.
• Ability to analyze problems and manage projects with minimal direction.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Complete calculations, drawings, contracts, and specifications for distribution/transmission lines.
• Perform civil/structural analyses for line design through 500 kV.
• Create and manage drawing packages for bidding, construction, and submittals.
• Coordinate with field crews and project management on moderately complex projects.
• Develop budgets, scopes, and schedules; support business development activities.
• Stay current with standards (NERC, NESC) and best practices in transmission design.
