Job summary

Qualus Corporation seeks a Principal Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to design overhead transmission lines for high voltage projects and lead the Transmission Design team. You will provide technical guidance, act as Engineer of Record as needed, and review complex drawings and reports.

The role emphasizes mentoring engineers, ensuring code compliance, and collaborating with clients and project managers to achieve project goals across the 69kV–500kV range.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in engineering required.
• 15+ years of overhead transmission line design experience.
• PE license required.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD and MS Office.
• Knowledge of NESC, ASCE, ACI, RUS, IEC and IEEE.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with strong communication.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV–500kV range.
• Provide SME guidance and QA reviews for drawings and specs.
• Act as Engineer of Record when required and approve deliverables.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and team members.
• Interface with clients, contractors and project managers to meet goals.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Perform field work as needed to support design and commissioning.
• Review vendor submittals and support project team during construction.
