Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Engineer in the Transmission Line Engineering Department to lead overhead transmission line design projects. You will plan, direct and coordinate civil/structural analyses for distribution and high-voltage lines, with work locations including Del Mar, CA; Lakewood, CO; Vancouver, WA; Salt Lake City, UT; Reno, NV or remote.

The role requires 5–10+ years in overhead transmission line design, strong engineering fundamentals, and PE eligibility.

Qualifications

Broad understanding of engineering principles applied to transmission line projects.
5-10+ years overhead transmission line design experience.
ABET-accredited BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Eng or related field.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage projects.
Knowledge of PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, MFAD and field construction techniques.
Willingness to travel up to 15% and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Complete calculations, drawings, contracts, technical specifications, and design standards for distribution and/or transmission lines.
Perform civil/structural analyses and design for distribution/transmission line layouts through 500kV.
Prepare complex engineering deliverables and coordinate design review meetings.
Create/develop drawing packages for bidding, construction, as-built, and submittal purposes.
Coordinate construction activities with field crews and timely submittal reviews.
