Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Engineer in Overhead Transmission Line Design to lead civil/structural analysis, planning and completion of high‑voltage transmission line projects. You will direct design work, prepare drawings, specifications and budgets, and coordinate with field crews and management.

The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years of TL design experience, a PE license, and strong skills in PLScadd, MFAD and office software. Travel up to 15% and ABET‑accredited degree required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited school.
• Minimum 5–10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience.
• PE license required.
• Willing and able to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Complete calculations, construction drawings, contracts, specifications and design standards for transmission lines.
• Perform civil/structural analyses and design for layouts through 500kV.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables and support submittals and reviews.
• Coordinate design review meetings and bid/contract drawing packages.
• Develop equipment/material selections and technical specifications.
• Communicate project scope, budgets and schedules to stakeholders.
• Assist in budget preparation and develop training modules as directed.
• Stay updated on regulations and industry standards (NERC, NESC).
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to team members.
• Support business development and pursuit activities.
