Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to join the Transmission Design team. You will design and create construction drawings for overhead transmission projects, leveraging PLS-CADD and AutoCAD to model lines, assess right-of-way requirements, and review vendor submittals.

A BS in Civil Engineering and 4–6 years of experience are required. This remote-friendly role may base out of multiple U.S.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
4–6 years of overhead transmission design experience.
Proficiency with MS Office, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or equivalent.
Ability to work independently and in a team with high attention to detail.
Strong communication skills for technical discussions with customers.
PE license is a plus; valid driver's license; ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 kV through 34 kV).
Perform structural analysis and design, including foundations.
Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, assess ROW requirements, compute conductor sag, and develop line plan/profile drawings.
Review vendor submittals.
