Markel is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Examiner to handle moderate to high complexity ocean marine claims from coverage inquiry through liability assessment and quantum analysis. You will resolve matters timely, mitigate indemnity exposure, and communicate developments to stakeholders.

You will serve as a technical resource, mentor others, andTravel to mediations, trials, and conferences as required, with opportunities for professional designation and on-going training.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• JD , advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus.
• Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license in all states.
• Industry designations (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU, AMIM) preferred or training opportunities (CLM Claim College, Munich Re Training, FDCC).

Responsabilidades

• Handles moderate to complex ocean marine and liability claims (Ocean Cargo, GL, Hull, Piers Wharves & Docks, P&I, Marina Operator’s Liability).
• Serves as primary contact/claims designee for selected accounts.
• Reviews policies to confirm coverage.
• Directs assignments to experts and outside counsel; monitors litigation management.
• Analyzes coverage; prepares coverage position letters.
• Uses investigation and settlement techniques to achieve timely closure and cost control.
• Coordinates loss investigations and loss facts; assesses damages.
• Maintains service levels; communicates with stakeholders throughout lifecycle of the claim.
• Sets reserves within authority; makes recommendations to manager.
• Negotiates and settles claims; presents at roundtables for higher exposure cases.
• Travels to mediations, trials, conferences as needed; mentors colleagues.
