Markel is seeking a Senior Claims Examiner to resolve moderate to high complexity ocean marine and liability claims. The role involves coverage analysis, quantum assessment, and coordinating with underwriters, insureds, and external counsel.

Expect responsibilities from coverage reviews to settlements, with travel to mediations and trials as needed. Requires strong communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus.
• Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license in all states.
• Industry designations (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU, AMIM) preferred or training (CLM Claim College, etc.).
• 5+ years of ocean marine or liability claims handling experience; bodily injury or commercial auto experience a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Handle moderate to complex ocean marine claims including cargo, hull, GL, and related exposures.
• Serve as primary contact for selected accounts and claims designee when needed.
• Direct and monitor assignments to experts and outside counsel; manage vendors and litigation.
• Analyze coverage and prepare coverage position letters; review policies and documents.
• Set reserves within authority; negotiate and settle claims.
• Travel to mediations, trials, and conferences as required.
