Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville, TN, seeks a senior Mechanical Engineer with nuclear power experience to lead licensing basis systems and uprate projects. The role offers a hybrid schedule with three days in the Knoxville office and two remote days.

You will apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to major systems, prepare calculations and reports, mentor junior engineers, and interface with clients to present technical findings and cost estimates.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSME with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years of nuclear power industry experience.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of heat balance, power train pumps, heat exchangers and related systems.
• Excellent technical report writing and client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant engineering.
• Prepare calculations and reports to support client recommendations.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on power plant tasks.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and status.
