Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to advance licensing basis work for nuclear uprate projects. You will apply core thermo-fluid knowledge to major plant systems, performing calculations, analyses, and reports that support client decisions and design updates.

The role combines office-based modeling with on-site client interaction, requiring strong communication and collaboration within project teams.

Qualifications

• BSME from ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics/heat transfer/fluid mechanics.
• 7+ years in nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Strong writing skills for calculations and reports.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics to power plant engineering.
• Perform consulting level work for power uprates in the nuclear industry.
• Prepare and review heat balances, pumps, heat exchangers, and heat sink calculations.
