Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead thermodynamics and heat transfer analyses for uprate projects at existing plants. You will develop licensing basis evaluations, prepare calculations, and present findings clearly to clients, while mentoring junior staff.

The role is hybrid with three days in the office and two remote days. A BSME from an ABET-accredited program and 10+ years in nuclear power are required, including uprates or turbine retrofit experience.

Qualifications

• BSME from ABET-accredited program with emphasis on thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of balance of plant systems, heat balance, pumps and condensers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics in power plant engineering.
• Prepare calculations related to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers and hazards.
• Prepare task reports and equipment evaluations presenting technical information clearly.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on power plant tasks.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and satisfaction.
