Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville, TN, seeks a Mechanical Analysis Engineer with extensive nuclear power experience to join our Nuclear Power Group. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the Knoxville office and two remote days, focusing on licensing basis, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and plant equipment evaluations.

You will lead calculations, prepare reports, mentor junior staff, and interface with clients to present project status.

Qualifications

• BSME from ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of balance of plant evaluations, heat balance, and plant equipment such as pumps and heat exchangers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant engineering.
• Prepare calculations for heat balances, pumps, heat exchangers, and related equipment.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status.
• Lead and mentor junior engineering staff on power plant tasks.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.
